Patchouli Essential Oils from Nature Packaged
Nature Packaged is thrilled to announce the release of Patchouli Essential Oil, coming to us straight from the tropical archipelago of Indonesia.
Patchouli is known for its strong, earthy aroma and is highly sought after for perfumes, incense, soaps, lotions, and more. Read on to find out more about this amazing essential oil.
The Pogostemon Cablin, a species of the Labiatae family native to tropical parts of Asia, is the source of Patchouli Essential Oil. It’s a small, perennial herb that grows best in warm, humid climates. They require minimal upkeep: light pruning once in a while combined with a regular watering schedule. This helps them yield the highest-quality oil. Its leaves are covered with fine hairs which act as natural protection from pests and UV rays.
Patchouli Essential Oil has numerous benefits for both physical and emotional well-being. When applied topically, it can help reduce inflammation and skin irritation, while also helping to moisturize and soften the skin. With its antibacterial properties, it can help protect against infections. When used with a diffuser for aromatherapy, it can assist with calming your mood, and reducing stress and anxiety.
Our partner’s location in Central Java, Indonesia, is ideal for the growth of Patchouli. The soil is rich with minerals from centuries of volcanic deposits, so the Patchouli has a huge supply of beneficial nutrients to aid its growth. In addition to the soil, Java’s consistent rainfall fulfills Patchouli’s need for regular watering.
Our partner farm grows seedlings from seeds and plants them by hand. The workers conduct regular tests throughout the growth cycle of the Patchouli plant to ensure that plants are healthy and growing well leading up to harvest.
Harvesting & Processing
The leaves of the trees are harvested in the late summer months, once they’ve reached full maturity. This ensures that the essential oil content is at its peak. Once gathered, they are dried in batches before being steam distilled to release their essential oil.
Once all the oil has been collected, it’s filtered out before being bottled.
Patchouli Essential Oil is definitely one to add to your aromatherapy collection! Not only does it have many therapeutic benefits that make it worth owning, but it has a warm, pleasant scent, too.
