Spearmint Essential Oil from Essential Oils India

Nature Packaged is excited to announce our newest product - Spearmint Essential Oil, sourced through partnership with Essential Oils India. This refreshing oil is made from the spearmint plant, which is grown in our partner’s fields in the region of Uttar Pradesh in India.

In this post, we will explore the botanical details of Spearmint, the way it is cultivated, and how it's harvested and processed into Spearmint Essential Oil. Whether you are a natural product enthusiast or a small business owner looking to expand your line of offerings, we hope this blog post will provide you with valuable information about the benefits and features of Spearmint Essential Oil.

Spearmint

Spearmint is a fairly well-known perennial herb that belongs to the Lamiaceae family, which also includes other well-known herbs such as basil, lavender, and rosemary. It has a pleasant aroma and mildly sweet taste, which makes it a popular flavoring agent in beverages and confectionery products. The leaves of the Spearmint plant are dark green and grow in pairs, while the flowers are pink, purple, or white and bloom in late spring or early summer.

Spearmint Essential Oil has a diverse range of therapeutic benefits, such as helping to relieve stress, improving digestion, reducing pain and inflammation, and boosting immunity. Because of its refreshing scent and antiseptic properties, it’s also popularly used in personal care products like toothpaste, shaving cream, and even deodorants.

Cultivation

In India, Spearmint is typically grown as a cash crop in small-scale farms; because of its natural insect-repelling properties, it’s popular for farms already using sustainable farming practices. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soils and thrives in warm and humid conditions, which are prevalent in the Uttar Pradesh region. Farmers typically propagate Spearmint through vegetative means, such as stem cuttings or root division, rather than planting seeds, as this leads to a faster and more uniform growth rate.

Harvesting & Processing

When it comes to harvesting and processing Spearmint, the leaves are picked by hand or machine during the flowering season. The harvested leaves are then dried in the sun or under controlled conditions to preserve their essential oil content. Once they are dry, they are steam distilled to obtain Spearmint Essential Oil, a pale-yellow liquid with a fresh, minty aroma. The yield of oil obtained from Spearmint is relatively low compared to other essential oils, which makes it a precious and valuable ingredient.

Conclusion

Spearmint Essential Oil is a valuable addition to our product line, and we are thrilled to be able to offer it to our customers in partnership with Essential Oils India. As we continue to strive towards sustainable sourcing and fair trade practices, we are proud to partner with them to bring you the finest quality Spearmint Essential Oil. We hope you enjoyed learning more about Spearmint!
